...raising awareness of men's wellbeing...

Wanting to “give something back” to local communities might seem simple but how can you make a long-term difference? The team at Plum Grove considered this question seriously before deciding to establish an ongoing alliance with Regional Men’s Health Initiative in July 2009 (formally wheatbelt men's health inc.).

A non-profit organisation, The Regional Men's Health Initiative seeks to raise awareness and improve men’s health in Western Australia’s regional areas. Working with Plum Grove, will enable the organisation to reach more men with their message and build awareness that men’s health is something that should be considered every day, not just when a problem occurs.

Plum Grove, based in Fremantle was founded by predominantly country born and bred entrepreneurs who have a passion for delivering a professional and trusted service to growers in WA. Tony Smith, Senior Pool Manager and Trader at Plum Grove said the decision to support a rural, health-focused organisation was logical.

"Getting behind regional men’s health is a chance for Plum Grove to give something back to the communities that have shown us such strong support,” he said.

“This industry can take its toll on people’s health, so providing access to advice and assistance early on can really make a difference”.

The Regional Men's Health Initiative Senior Community Educator, Julian Krieg said the support of Plum Grove is of great value.

"It will allow us to reach more people - to improve the health of men in the wheatbelt and build stronger communities to cope with some of the stress of rural life," he said.

The partnership was launched at the Dowerin Field Day in 2009, with the bright green wheatbelt men's health Talk to a Mate” car on display at the Plum Grove tent.
