Employee Spotlight: Aaron Dolin, Risk & Compliance Officer at Plum Grove

Aaron Dolin, Risk & Compliance Officer at Plum Grove

Employed with Plum Grove since: 2015

What is your history/career path prior to Plum Grove?
Prior to Plum Grove I spent the previous 10 years working in FMCG and retail logistics across various roles.

What are your current responsibilities?
I currently collaborate with team members overseeing the group risk and compliance framework. This is a broad area that includes risk reporting, identifying key risk areas and implementing risk treatments, monitoring the key compliance obligations of the business, through policy development and awareness.

What do you enjoy most about working for Plum Grove?
There are two key areas I really love about the workplace. First, it is a really relaxed environment which is great and the business has adopted some really cool workplace initiatives such as free-dress Friday, monthly birthday celebrations and organized lunch time cook ups where we team up with different people and cater for the office. Second, it's a really collaborative workplace. Given we are all in close proximity to each other its very rare to not see people moving around spending time with various members of the team working on projects or solving problems.

What's your favorite story/memory about working for Plum Grove?
I have been very fortunate to have been given many opportunities to participate in community events and to travel through parts of the wheat belt I wouldn't have visited if not for Plum Grove. One highlight was being able to bring my family to an event Plum Grove sponsored in a country town roughly five hours from the city. The event was based on bringing the community together for fun family activities I had a really great experience participating with my own family.

What important values do you think Plum Grove delivers on?
The business is very supportive of family and family values. Plum Grove has always been very accommodating and flexible to family commitments and this can be seen by the reaction of staff when we bring our children into the office on occasions!

What surprised you most about the job or its location?
Just how many moving components within the soft commodity market the business has to negotiate, how each impacts the business in its own unique way and how the trading team and management make decisions around these.

How do you spend your free time, what do you like to do in the city where you live?
Given I have three young children I now spend most of my spare time entertaining them! They love it when we take them to the parks around our area or down to the beach which is only a 15 minute drive from our house. We are also Fremantle Dockers members so every second week during winter you will find all five of us enjoying Perths new and amazing sports stadium watching Australian Football League.

What is your hidden talent, or something most people don't know about you?
I (still) love playing video games, and I love that both of my boys are now right into this space as well, so its fun showing them all my old retro games which I've kept since I was their age, and its also just as fun for me learning all the new games they love playing at the moment. Sadly they are already better than me
